John Zaffis to present to campus and community

Nationally-recognized paranormal investigator featured on Discovery Channel

Ghost Hunter John Zaffis visits Penn State New Kensington for an evening exploring hauntings, paranormal activity, exorcisms and more on Thursday, October 19 at 8:30 p.m. in the Forum Theatre

When news of the free event reached Carly Duncan, a sophomore at Penn State New Kensington, she immediately marked the date on her calendar and commented, “My friends and I always thought the woods behind our houses were haunted. We tried ghost hunting on our own so it’s going to be really cool to meet somebody who does it for a living.”

With more than forty years of experience studying and investigating the paranormal, Zaffis has made a career out of ghost hunting. He has been featured in Discovery Channel documentaries, hosted “Haunted Collector” on SyFy and co-authored "Shadows of the Dark" with Brian McIntryre. Over the years, Zaffis has been involved with cases of possession and exorcism, leaving him with a collection of hundreds of possessed items given to him by people wishing to be rid of them. The John Zaffis Paranormal Museum opened in 2004 to display these items.

Ghost hunter Zaffis visits New Kensington only a dozen days before Halloween. In Campus Activities Board (CAB) member Bill White’s words, “It’s October, and that means Halloween, and ghost hunting is perfect.”

Duncan agrees with White’s thoughts on the timing of Zaffis’ visit, “especially since it’s so close to Halloween…definitely gets me in the spooky mood!”

In his “Ghost Hunting 101” session, internationally renowned ghost hunter, John Zaffis, will examine such spooky and haunting topics as Annabelle and the Conjuring 1 and 2. This event is free of charge, open to the public and brought to campus by the Penn State New Kensington Student Activity Fee and the Division of Student Affairs.
