Out of an abundance of caution and safety during the coronavirus outbreak, the Penn State New Kensington campus is in "locked status." The University is not closed and is delivering education and services remotely. Authorized employees are able to have access to campus facilities to perform essential functions that can only be done at the campus upon approval from their department supervisor and the Police and Public Safety department.
Units or campus facilities may be operating on limited hours and/or virtual availability. Students, faculty, staff and visitors are asked to reach out to departments for current information, with questions or to schedule remote meetings or appointments. A full list of campus departments and contact information can be found at https://newkensington.psu.edu/contact-us.
Based on evolving federal guidance and statewide mitigation plans announced by Gov. Tom Wolf around the growing coronavirus pandemic and the global efforts underway to stop its spread, Penn State has extended virtual course delivery into the summer. Additionally, spring commencement ceremonies were held virtually on May 9, while the University continues to explore options for celebrating the achievements of our students with in-person events at a later date. These decisions align with recommendations from the federal government that call for restricting of all gatherings of more than 10 people. Visit this link to read more about these changes. The campus community is also reminded to sign up for the PSUAlert system. It is used to communicate emergencies, campus closings, and other urgent information. Using this system, students, faculty, and staff members can register devices and email addresses to receive emergency alerts.
Students, faculty and staff can choose to receive PSUAlert messages by text message, voice message and e-mail. All alerts will also be posted on the main page of the Penn State New Kensington website.
