Penn State awarded $1.5 million federal workforce opportunities grant

Penn State has been awarded a $1.5 million grant to create workforce education and reskilling programs targeting the southwestern Pennsylvania region. Penn State New Kensington , along with its Digital Foundry, will lead the project, known as Growing and Reskilling Our Workforce in Pennsylvania (GROW PA).

The Corner LaunchBox catalyzing local business, entrepreneurship

Located on Fifth Avenue in downtown New Kensington, The Corner LaunchBox has helped a majority of the businesses on its own street, and in return, has helped revitalize the town’s business district. The innovation space has directly helped or interacted with more than 80% of small businesses within the downtown corridor, providing programing, business advice, networking events and other resources to the community.

Shara McCallum to visit Penn State New Kensington on Nov. 2

Shara McCallum, 2021–22 Penn State Laureate and Edwin Erle Sparks Professor of English, will visit Penn State New Kensington to read from her works on Nov. 2. The event, which will take place at 12:05 p.m. in the Forum Theatre, is free and open to the public. Masking is required.

New Kensington launches downtown Sustainability Stroll

Penn State New Kensington, in partnership with the city of New Kensington, has launched the city’s first-ever Sustainability Stroll to highlight local businesses, organizations and history while connecting them to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
