Hong Chen is an assistant professor of Information Sciences and Technology. He received his Ph.D. degree from University of Rhode Island in 2012, and received M.S. and B.S. degrees from Zhejiang University in China. Before joining Penn State New Kensington, he was an assistant professor of Computer and Information Science at Siena Heights University and a visiting assistant professor of Information Systems Management at Duquesne University. His research is interdisciplinary, spanning Information Systems, Big Data and Computing. He researches exciting algorithms to examine the impact of online user generated content and cyber fraud. Prior to all his academic appointments, he was VP for Research at a biotech startup in Rhode Island, leading an engineering team to innovate in-vitro diagnostic devices.
