Adult Learning Community

New This Fall

Adult Learning Community at Penn State New Kensington

To learn more about this new adult learner campus community, please attend one of the two optional initial meeting times.

A short initial meeting either during the day or evening, will be held on September 14, 2017, in Room 138 Science at either 12:00 noon or 5:30 p.m.

The Adult Learning Community, or ALC, has been established to serve the unique needs of our adult learners - or - non-traditional students (age 24 or older, veterans, or any student with multiple life roles, those with four or more years of employment or homemaking, or those who identify as an adult learner and wish to join the Community for support).

This group will meet both day and evening hours, and will include a wide-range of diverse workshops and sessions on topics to enhance the learning experience and improve the success of the adult learner population.  Sessions will include topics such as higher education technology tips, study skills including writing and math, major and career-changer exploration, life roles and educational barriers, transformational learning discussions, chats with faculty, and yet-to-be-determined topics that will be developed by the ALC as they meet to discuss their specific needs.
