New Student Orientation (NSO)

New Student Orientation (NSO)

Welcome to Penn State!

All new first-year students to Penn State must participate in New Student Orientation (NSO).

At NSO, you will meet with faculty and staff, begin to develop goals for your time at Penn State, learn about campus resources, and schedule courses for your first semester.

Before beginning the NSO process, you must first activate your Penn State Access Account. (This is different from the Friends of Penn State (FPS) account you created to apply to Penn State.) Account activation instructions will come in the form of an email, like this sample e-mail from identity@psu.edu (pdf).

Keynote Speaker

Matt Glowacki, the most popular motivational and diversity speaker on college campuses for the past ten years, will be speaking to PSNK’s incoming freshman class as part of New Student Orientation on August 17, 2017. Matt’s presentation focuses on revealing the proven "secrets" of finding true and lasting happiness! New students will gain a range of practical techniques and tools, will be inspired, and will be motivated to become happier.

After being born without legs, Matt strived to live the most influential life that he possibly could and has done so by talking to various groups of students about understanding what motivates people and provides meaning in their lives. Matt draws from his inspirational life experiences to promote happiness and to teach students how to see the potential in themselves as well as others. He fits right into PSNK’s efforts to motivate students and promote an encouraging, happy campus, and we can’t wait to have him on campus on August 17!
