APICS-CPIM

APICS/ASCM Certification Prep Programs

ASCM ®, the Association for Supply Chain Management (formerly APICS ®), is the global leader and premier source of leading-edge knowledge in operations and supply chain management. ASCM ® has developed a comprehensive educational program designed for operations and supply chain professionals, and the northeastern PA campuses of Penn State University are collaborating to offer these prep programs to prepare individuals across the Penn State system to take the certification exams.

1. APICS ® Certified Production and Inventory Management 
2. APICS ® Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP ®) 
3. APICS ® Certified Logistics Transportation and Distribution (CLTD ®)

APICS® Certified Production and Inventory Management

The APICS ® CPIM ® is the global standard education credential program of the Association of Supply Chain Management, ASCM.

Every ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system uses business rules originating from CPIM's ® body of knowledge. Earning an APICS ® CPIM ® certification shows employers that as a professional you know how to effectively manage risks and disruptions, as well as leverage technology that uses data and streamline processes. 

CPIM ® Overview

CPIM ® focuses on the mastery of an organization's internal operations and provides an in-depth understanding of the Fundamentals of Demand Management, Plan Supply, Executing the Supply Plan, Inventory Management, Continuous Improvement and Quality Management and Technologies, Strategy and S&OP and provides the knowledge to apply this information across the extended supply chain.

Online Certification Prep Course—Spring 2025

APICS CPIM 8.0 prep course is one 56-hour, instructor-led online program (14 weeks). To earn a CPIM designation, the student must pass one exam covering eight modules of content (exam is not included in registration fee). 

This online program, taught by Penn State approved and APICS ® certified instructors, is being offered in collaboration with other campuses of Penn State thru online video, classes are originated at Penn State Scranton.

  • Dates: January 23 through April 12, 2025
  • Days and Times: Thursdays, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
  • Delivery: Online Instructor-led training via Zoom
  • Registration Deadline : January 15, 2025
  • Cost : $2,350 for APICS Members, $2,550 for non-members. Fees include: APICS ®  CPIM ® Learning System Workbook, Student Slide book and access to online study. Please contact 570-963-2600 for discount code or email  [email protected] with copy of your APICS Membership Card

APICS® Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP®)

The APICS ® Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP ®) program will help you develop into a supply chain leader who can create and execute a supply chain strategy that meets customer needs, reduces costs, and increases profits.

With the APICS ® CSCP ® designation, you'll increase your value to employers who know that a well-run supply chain is a key component of a forward-looking and competitive enterprise.

CSCP ® Overview

The CSCP ® takes a broad view of the field, extending beyond internal operations to encompass the entire supply chain—from the supplier, through the company, to the end consumer. The program provides professionals with the skill set necessary to understand and manage the integration and coordination of activities within today’s increasingly intricate supply chains.

This is an instructor-led comprehensive professional development and exam preparation program based on the current APICS ® CSCP ® Exam Content Manual. This comprehensive training program combines print materials with interactive web-based study tools to provide a customized learning experience. Program is taught by Penn State approved and APICS ® certified instructors. This course is being offered in collaboration with other campuses of Penn State thru video link, Zoom and online platforms, classes are originated at Penn State Scranton.

Eligibility for CSCP ®

The APICS ® CSCP ® examination is available to individuals who have relevant work experience and education. To be eligible for the exam*, a candidate must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus two years of related business experience
  • CPIM ®, CFPIM ®, CIRM ®, or CPM ® designation plus two years of related business experience
  • Five years of related business experience.

The APICS ® Certified Supply Chain Professional designation is earned by passing a separate certification exam. Prior to registering for the exam, candidates must apply for eligibility. Length of the program generally consists of 39 instructional hours.

CSCP ® Certification Learning System 

The CSCP ® Learning System is divided into three modules:

  • Supply Chain Design
  • Supply Chain Planning and Execution
  • Supply Chain Improvement and Best Practices

  • Delivery: Online Instructor-led via Zoom

APICS® Certified Logistics Transportation and Distribution (CLTD®)

Manage the performance of your supply chain and position yourself for success with a Certification in Logistics Transportation and Distribution (CLTD ®).

CLTD ® Overview

Meet today’s demands in logistics, transportation and distribution industries in field of supply chain management. This program is designed for traffic managers, logistics managers, warehouse operations and district managers and reverse logistic managers. Seeking the APICS ®-CLTD ® certification will make you a more valuable asset to your organization, keeping you and your organization more competitive in today's global economy. Program is taught by Penn State approved and APICS ® certified instructors. This course is being offered in collaboration with other campuses of Penn State thru video link, Zoom and online platforms, classes are originated at Penn State Scranton.

Length of the program generally consists of 39 instructional hours.

APICS ® CLTD ® Program 

  • Dates: To be announced
  • Day and Time: TBD, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
  • Delivery: Online Instructor-led via Zoom
  • Registration Deadline: TBD
  • Cost: $1,625. Fees include: APICS ® CLTD ®  Learning System Workbook, Student Slide book and access to online study.

Cancellations and refunds

Payment is due upon registration. Students may request a registration cancellation through the start date of the course. A $25 cancellation fee will apply. No refunds will be given for withdrawal requests after the course start date. The University reserves the right to cancel course selections. If the course is cancelled, the student will be issued a full refund
