Student News Readership Program

Penn State New Kensington recognizes the need to provide students with broader perspectives on world and national views, and the need to create opportunities to be more engaged citizens in their local community.

The program's three objectives are to

  • enhance the learning environment on campus;
  • increase students’ knowledge of community, national, and world events;
  • encourage a lifelong daily newspaper readership habit.

As of September 2019, Penn State New Kensington campus offers digital access for Penn State faculty, staff, and students to The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal at no additional cost. In fall of 2021, PennLive.com was added to the list of digital subscribers. To take advantage of the program, you must register using your Penn State email. To learn more about the program, visit the Digital Access website.

The Penn State Student News Readership Program's purpose is to help students stay informed on local, national, and global news and to gain a broader perspective inside and outside of classrooms. To achieve this goal, we provide access to physical and digital news sources at no-additional-cost to students. To learn more about the program, visit the Student News Readership Program website.
