New Kensington volunteers help with community garden | Image Gallery #7756 | Penn State New Kensington

Seven Penn State New Kensington staff, alumni and advisory board members volunteered at the New Kensington Community Garden to prepare it for the upcoming season. The garden, which began in 2012, sits along the New Kensington campus-led Corridor of Innovation, a five-block stretch of Fifth Avenue in downtown New Kensington.

Female and male assemble greenhouse — Shannon Josefoski, class of 2018, and Brian Magnus, senior journalism major at Penn State, assemble a greenhouse at the New Kensington Community Garden. Josefoski graduated from the New Kensington campus and joined Magnus and other campus staff and advisory board members to volunteer at the garden in June.

Man puts mulch in garden bed — Patrick Coulson, director of Westmoreland County Community College's New Kensington Center, spreads mulch in a garden bed at the New Kensington Community Garden. Coulson has coordinated the garden initiative along Fifth Avenue since its inception in 2012 and was joined by volunteers from Penn State New Kensington in June.
