Course Overview

Your ability as a project manager to demonstrate best practices in project management—both on the job and through professional certification—is becoming the standard to compete in today’s fast-paced and highly technical workplace. In this course, you will apply the generally recognized practices of project management acknowledged by the Project Management Institute (PMI) ® to successfully manage projects.

The course, taught by a PMP-credentialed instructor, covers project initiation, creating high-performing teams, collaborating with and engaging stakeholders, how to determine appropriate project methods and practices, managing the schedule and scope of a project, evaluating business and environment changes, and how to mitigate risks within the project.

You’ll learn time management skills and obtain an overview of the questions covered on the PMP Exam. The skills and knowledge you gain in this course will help you avoid making costly mistakes and increase your competitive edge in the project management profession.

All materials used in this course are developed and approved by PMI. After enrolling, you’ll receive an electronic access key to download their materials.

Successful completion of this course ensures that you'll meet the 35-hour education requirement to apply for and take the exam and that your education will not be subject to audit.

The Pennsylvania State University is a PMI Authorized Training Partner (A.T.P.) and is committed to enhancing the ongoing professional development of PMI Members, PMI-certified Project Management Professionals, and other project management stakeholders.

What Can a PMP® Credential Do for You?

According to the PMI, in the United States, the median salary for professionals with a PMP is 25% higher than those without it. Click here for additional information on the PMP’s earning power.

Prerequisite

Keep in mind that, although this course is open to anyone preparing for PMP exam administered through the PMI, there are eligibility requirements you must meet before applying and taking the exam.
