Free discussion on hip and knee replacement process at New Kensington campus

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – Preparing for joint replacement is the theme of a discussion at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, in Penn State New Kensington's Conference Center. The presentation is geared to people considering a hip or knee replacement.

The guest speakers are Michael Miller, orthopaedic surgeon at Greater Pittsburgh Orthopaedic Associates; Tom Porter, licensed physical therapist; and Crystal Wadsworth, registered nurse. They will talk about how to prepare for surgery and what to expect after surgery.

The presentation is free to the public. Light refreshments will be served. The event is sponsored by WESTARM Therapy and Nursing, Belair Health and Rehabilitation Center, and Greater Pittsburgh Orthopaedic Associates.

The talks are a part of WESTARM’s Community Lecture Series, which provides free information on various health issues. The next topic is “Treating Dizziness and Vertigo using Physical Therapy,” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, in the Pittsburgh Mills Mall.
