The Corner will host two virtual workshop in June covering topics of hiring and business-reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — Penn State New Kensington's innovation hub, The Corner, will be hosting two upcoming virtual workshops that are free and open to the public.

Virtual Lunch and Learn: Hiring in the Current Climate

During this one-hour program, Ken Hicks, founder and CEO of Broadwing and member of The Corner, will cover topics to help potential job seekers navigate a search and interview process in a virtual environment. The discussion topics will include:

  • Opportunities presented in the current environment
  • The kinds of recruiters one might engage with
  • How to present yourself as a candidate
  • How to interview from a home environment
  • The current hiring temperature;
  • Advertising yourself as a candidate
  • Digital interviews

Those interested can register in advance for this meeting. After registering, a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting will be sent.

Virtual Workshop: To Open or Not to Open?

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented businesses and organizations with new and unique challenges about whether and how to reopen, while minimizing liability and risk. 

Attorney Heather Harmon Kennedy will present this one-hour webinar from two perspectives: one of an employer and one of a public-facing business. Topics of discussion will include how to prepare a re-opening plan, update human resources procedures and developing new policies for human interactions. Templates for getting started will also be shared.
