Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the PaSSS Program?

The program will run for six weeks.

Does the PaSSS scholarship cover the total tuition cost?

No, students will still be responsible for the remaining tuition amount once the $2,000 PaSSS scholarship is applied. The remaining balance will be the student's out-of-pocket cost for the semester.

Can I be considered for additional financial aid beyond the tuition grant and book stipend provided by Penn State?

Yes, you will need to complete the 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid as early as possible, and no later than June 1.

Where can I locate information regarding employment in the PaSSS program?

Once students begin the PaSSS program, we walk you through the complete application and hiring process.

Will I be required to complete a background check for employment in the PaSSS Program?

Yes, because campus jobs will involve contact with minors, we will help you to complete three publicly available clearances in order to work:

  •  PA Child Abuse Clearance Form CY-113
  •  PA State Police Criminal Background Check SP4-164
  •  FBI Criminal Background Check/fingerprinting.

Can students in associate degree programs participate in PaSSS?

Yes, associate and baccalaureate degree students may enroll in the program.

When should I schedule my courses for summer?

PaSSS students must attend an online New Student Orientation (NSO) starting in June to register for both summer and fall courses.

Are there required courses that I must enroll in to be a part of the second summer session of PaSSS?

There are not any required courses for the second summer session. However, we will provide a list of suggested courses for you to enroll in.

Will there be on-campus housing for PaSSS students?

The Nittany Highlands Apartments are privately-owned. For more information, or to set up your lease, please contact the Nittany Highlands Apartments at [email protected] or (724) 938-2355.
