A tour of Old San Juan in Puerto Rico is a part of the Penn State New Kensington students’ community service project. The students are standing in front of the statue of Eugenio María de Hostos, a revered Puerto Rican educator, philosopher and advocate for independence. De Hostos was known as "El Gran Ciudadano de las Américas" (The Great Citizen of the Americas).
Penn State New Kensington students planted trees in a mangrove in San Juan, Puerto Rico during “Alternate Spring Break,” a weeklong community service project.
