Penn State’s annual celebration of Constitution Day will take place on Friday, Sept. 16 at University Park, with events happening throughout the month of September across Penn State campuses.
Prospective students and their families will have the opportunity to discover the benefits of attending Penn State New Kensington at two admissions events during the last week of September. The programs, Fall Open House and Application Day, will acquaint students and parents with the campus and Penn State's wide variety of academic majors.
Penn State New Kensington freshman Daniel Smith (Central Catholic H. S.) fired a collegiate career-best 73 to win the Penn State New Kensington Invitational Sept. 20 at the Links at Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania. As a team, the New Kensington Lions finished third at 339 in the five-team field, eight shots behind the victorious Butler County Community College squad.
To celebrate National Hispanic Heritage month, Pittsburgh filmmaker Chris Mason visits Penn State New Kensington on Sept. 27 in Café 780 for a presentation on the ties between Pittsburgh and Cuba. Mason will talk about the contributions of African heritage to Cuban culture.
The Penn State New Kensington Alumni Society invites all Penn State fans to a televised football game party on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Elks Lodge on Sixth Street in Tarentum. Penn State will take on the Michigan Wolverines in a Big Ten battle at 3:30 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The pregame reception begins at 2:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided along with a cash bar.

A reception for artist Vince Ornato is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the Art Gallery at Penn State New Kensington. Ornato’s exhibit, "They Were Not Anonymous,"[KNH3] provides an ironworker’s perspective on Pittsburgh’s industrial past. The show features more than 40 paintings, including his industrial series works, such as pouring steel, ending a shift at the U.S. Steel plant, and working high in the air.
To get a firsthand look at hands-on learning in the STEM fields, U.S. Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-12), of Sewickley, visited Penn State New Kensington Aug. 23 and met with faculty and students in engineering and health care fields.
The availability of more than $60,000 in new grants for projects that complement the campus’ strategic plan was the cornerstone of Penn State New Kensington Chancellor Kevin Snider’s “State of the Campus” address Aug. 18. The chancellor annually gives updates to faculty and staff prior to the start of the fall semester.
Preparing for joint replacement is the theme of a discussion at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, in Penn State New Kensington's Conference Center. The presentation is geared to people considering a hip or knee replacement.
