Higher education faculty members from 20 colleges and universities in the Southwestern Pennsylvania region attended the Future Readiness Workshop to learn about the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence (AI) and how it relates to higher education.
Dr. Jeffrey Cole, Research Professor & Director of the Center for the Digital Future at USC Annenberg School of Communication, will be the keynote speaker at the spring Future Readiness Workshop for Faculty on Jan. 26, 2024 at Penn State New Kensington.
In October 2023, educators, academics and industry leaders from across the Southwestern Pennsylvania region came together for the first "Education Vanguard: Building the Education of the Future Together" conference, led and organized by Penn State New Kensington. The event featured presentations by leading technologists, innovators and faculty experts discussing the latest in technology and the expected impact on workplace, workforce and academia. The conference is just one part of Penn State New Kensington's regional Future Readiness initiatives for Southwestern PA higher education faculty members. Students, faculty and staff across all Penn State campuses will now have free access to virtual technology programming provided by the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania (TCCP), thanks to a newly expanded partnership with TCCP spearheaded by Penn State Harrisburg, a longtime member of the council.
Researchers at the Penn State Institute for Computational and Data Sciences, together with collaborators at other institutions within Pennsylvania, have been awarded approximately $1.1 million in funding under the U.S. National Science Foundation Campus Cyberinfrastructure program to develop a commonwealth-wide secure network and related cyberinfrastructure to interconnect Pennsylvania colleges and universities.
