Penn State New Kensington awarded $75,000 grant

The West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund has awarded Penn State New Kensington $75,000 to aid in incorporating sustainability and best practices to the campus-led Corridor of Innovation and revitalization efforts in the city of New Kensington.

Penn State delegation fostering partnerships abroad

A delegation from three Pittsburgh-area Penn State campuses — including Beaver, Greater Allegheny and New Kensington — will visit two universities in Europe this summer to foster global partnerships and expand the Experiential Digital Global Engagement, or EDGE, program.

Retrofitting roofs in Pennsylvania's 'Rust Belt'

Esther Obonyo, associate professor of engineering design and architectural engineering, was awarded a $25,000 grant from Penn State’s Institutes of Energy and the Environment to design and test a new roofing composite. The project is part of a cross-institutional, multidisciplinary initiative led by Penn State New Kensington’s Corner Launchbox focused on refreshing the community’s image and economy.
