Energizing our community for a sustainable future.

The West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund (WPPSEF) has awarded Penn State New Kensington $75,000 to aid in incorporating sustainability and best practices to the campus-led Corridor of Innovation and revitalization efforts in the city of New Kensington. The award will allow for the creation of community workshops, as well as assist in efforts related to helping business owners and community members learn more about sustainability and the role it plays.

Workshop guests listen to presentation during reNew Kensington

New Kensington business owners, leaders and residents take part in a breakout session during the reNew Kensington Community Workshop on Sept. 27. This sesson, titled "Building Retuning," featured the Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP), and was held at ModFinish, a business along the Corridor of Innovation in the city. The event, hosted in downtown New Kensington, was organized by Penn State New Kensington thanks to a grant from the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund (WPPSEF).

reNew Kensington - Community Workshop

The workshop was held September 27, 2018.

Community members, leaders and business owners attended this free workshop to work together as one community in creating priorities and action steps to build a stronger and renewable New Kensington for everyone! The workshop included lots of collaborative activities, giveaways, speakers, special guests and free continental breakfast and lunch for all attendees. It was also the starting point for a community-driven planning process related to how sustainability can be implemented in New Kensington.
