Penn State announces fall 2016 commencement events and speakers

This fall approximately 5,247 Penn State students will receive their diplomas. University-wide there will be 252 associate, 3,936 baccalaureate, 762 master's, 11 law and 286 doctoral degrees awarded. Following is a compilation of commencement ceremonies and speaker information for Penn State's 24 locations.
Freshman students

New Kensington’s enrollment trending upward

For the first time in six years, Penn State New Kensington’s overall enrollment saw an increase, according to the annual snapshot count taken at the end of the sixth week of fall semester classes. The campus’ fall 2016 semester enrollment stands at 686, an increase of 30 students from last year.

Financial responsibility nets New Kensington graduate first ASPIRE scholarship

When Chancellor Kevin Snider conferred a corporate communications degree on Ryan Long on Dec. 17, the Penn Hills resident became the first campus student to receive a $1,000 ASPIRE scholarship. Believed to be the first of its kind at any Penn State campus, the ASPIRE (A Scholarship Program Inspiring Responsible Economics) program was established in 2012 as a support system to educate students on the importance of making healthy financial decisions.
